Registered
Accupuncture

In Chinese medicine, Qi flows along pathways called meridians, and disruptions or blockages in this flow are thought to cause illness or discomfort. In a typical acupuncture session, a practitioner gently inserts sterile, disposable needles into the skin at precise points, usually leaving them in place for about 10-30 minutes.

The insertion process is generally painless, though some people may feel a slight tingling or warmth.

Acupuncture is often used for pain relief, stress reduction, and treatment of various health conditions, and some people use it as a complementary therapy alongside conventional treatments.

In sports or orthopaedic acupuncture, these techniques are adapted to target muscles, tendons, and joints, helping to relieve pain, improve flexibility, and speed recovery from injuries or overuse.

This specialized form of acupuncture focuses on precise points along energy pathways, or meridians, to reduce inflammation, enhance circulation, and release tight muscles.

Commonly used by athletes and those with chronic pain, sports acupuncture can effectively treat conditions like muscle strains, joint pain, tendonitis, and back pain. By addressing both the root causes and symptoms of pain, orthopaedic acupuncture serves as a natural, complementary therapy that promotes healing, improves performance, and aids in long-term recovery.

Treatment plan & Consent

Registered Acupuncture is based solely off of informed consent.

Informed consent: is a principle in medical ethics and medical law, that a patient must have sufficient information and understanding before making decisions about their medical care.

You and your Acupuncturist will discuss what you want your treatment to look like, the benefits and potential risks. You will discuss which areas will be "undraped" (areas being uncovered) and they will obtain your consent to work on the regions.

Treatments can be performed with needles, without needles (Moxabustion), Acupressure, Gua Sha, Glass or silicon cups, and Tui Nah. If you would like to stay clothed please bring "Gym wear" (EG: shorts, tank top/ sports bra)  Ultimately whatever you are comfortable with is good for us!

The therapist will leave the room to give you privacy to disrobe to your comfort level and to get in between the sheets on the table.

  • Feeling to warm... or need a blanket?

  • Want another pillow?

  • Maybe there is a needle that is causing numbness?

We strive to have an environment that makes our patients feel safe and comfortable.
